This project was created during work at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT), and started when our recruitment team wanted to order some merchandise, and were going to just order white materials that just had the KMPT logo on, but my colleague Jo and I thought that we could do better than that, especially as they products would be on display and given out at career fairs, so we needed to catch potential colleagues interests.
My colleague Jo had a brilliant (excuse the pun) idea for a tagline, simply saying 'You're brilliant (just thought you'd like reminding)' which our team loved as it was a way of telling potential employees that they're brilliant, so come and join other brilliant people at KMPT.
We then worked on a design concept just using the normal NHS Blue but as we wanted to catch attention, we didn't use the regular Frutiger font, but instead I thought the Bebas font would be perfect for something like this.
This then sparked our imagination and we started looking at merchandise and the slogans we could use on them. We wanted to go down the 'brilliant' route with all of them, so we looked at tote bags and came up with a 'totes brilliant' pun to go on them, then we looked at notebooks, but we thought the 'you're brilliant' tagline worked well on there. Then we looked at rulers and came up with the 'you rule' pun, and then as a bit of merchandise we rarely see given out at career fairs, we looked at bottles of bubbles. We couldn't think of a slogan for this to relay back to the brilliant messaging, but we came up with 'play is good for your brain - permission granted' to show that we all need a bit of fun and we are giving them the go ahead to use them, which could be seen as a stress reliever for them as well as a nice present for their children if they had them.
This whole campaign was well received by the entire organisation, and although they didn't get used straight away as COVID-19 got in the way, they have been used since and work really well. I am incredibly proud of this bit of work.
