UK wedding invitation
I was asked to design some wedding invitations for my cousin Alex and his fiancé Gemma. They were getting married in the Dominican Republic and then once they got back, they would be having a UK wedding party. They had an idea about theming their invites around aeroplanes - the Dominican invite being like a boarding pass, and then the UK invite being made into a paper aeroplane.
I started the design for the Dominican invite first, and went through a couple of different versions until we got to the final design, where they had little aeroplane illustrations in their chosen colours (dark blue and coral) as well as a personalised 'stamp' that could be applied on everything they had for their wedding.
Then basing it on the Dominican invite, I started on the UK invite. I ended up making a paper aeroplane, then drawing lines on the folds and then scanning it into the computer to create the template, so that I knew once printed, they could simply be folded into the aeroplane shape. Then I set to work on the invite, getting a map of the Caribbean to be a feature across it, and using their colour theme, along with the stamp and aeroplane illustrations. I sent it to Gemma to have a look at and she was amazed by it and so happy with it.
I then used this design also to create a table plan for them for the Dominican wedding, where all the tables were named after places in the world, including Australia, Las Vegas and Mexico - using a world map in the background to compliment this.
I am incredibly proud of these invites, and although the original wedding that was planned for 2020 had to be cancelled for obvious reasons, we were able to just update them when it finally happened this year in 2022.
This was one of my favourite projects to date and I think the final products speak for themselves.
