This project started when I saw that my friend Kerrie had started a Facebook page for her mobile hairdressing company, and she didn’t have a logo and had no way to promote herself outside of Facebook. At the time of this, I had just started college studying Graphic Design, and just learnt how to use Illustrator for the first time, so I decided to give myself a challenge to create my first logo and test my skills I had learnt. I came up with an idea of integrating a pair of scissors to the logo to help potential clients know that she is a hairdresser.
I was really proud of the first draft and so I sent it to Kerrie and she really liked it. She then said that she would love me to create her a logo and a business card design. She sent me a few other examples of what she had thought of, including creating the ‘K’ out of a pair of scissors, as well as a colour scheme. This was when I created a mock business card for Kerrie. She liked it, but thought it was too simple and needed more information. After a lot of discussion and experimentation, we decided on this as the final outcome.
A few months later, Kerrie got in contact and asked me to create her a price list so that she could give them out to her clients along with the business cards so they know what they will be paying. Of course, I said yes and we worked together to create this for her. I took the logo and background colour from the business card and placed it in a new document. Kerrie then sent me her price list and I put it into the same format/fonts as the business cards. Kerrie also requested her phone number and Facebook information. After adding these I then sent it to Kerrie and she loved it, and I really enjoyed doing this project, and it certainly helped me learning how to get the hang of Illustrator.
Thank you for taking time to read this, if you liked it, please like and feedback is always welcome.
